I was approached by a dear friend who inquired if I would be interested in teaching a few classes in their new studio space, FRIEND ASSEMBLY, at Stanley Marketplace in the Central Park area of Denver.
Psssst…if you didn’t know this about me already, I teach elementary school during the week, specifically kindergarten through second grade students who are having reading difficulties + coach teachers on their instructional practice. I guess you could say I’m currently moonlighting my jewelry business, but I love both jobs, so hey!
When it was time to give my friend an answer it felt like a no brainer in my mind. I was eager to explore this option for my small business and honestly, it felt like the best of both worlds colliding – an opportunity to share my passion for metal smithing through classes with both adults and children. (Kids summer classes coming soon!)
I know what you’re thinking. What’s a class with Sheena like? What should I expect?
I like to think of it as a fun night out with friends. During my 2hr ring stacking workshop you learn the basics of metal work as you shape, heat, solder, file and finish your very own ring to take home at the end of class. All tools and materials are provided so it’s as easy as just showing up. It’s suitable for beginners and there is absolutely no experience necessary to enjoy this class.
In my opinion, teaching classes at Stanley Marketplace is delightful because if you need a little, “creative inspo” feel free to grab a to-go drink at CREATE, Cheluna, or the The Stanley Beer Hall.
