Mastering Artisanal Craftsmanship with Hermès: My Upcoming NYC Mentorship

I’m excited to share more about my upcoming mentorship at the Nest x Hermès American Craft Convening in New York City this October! This two-day event, hosted by the iconic Hermès, will bring together emerging American artisans for a series of immersive workshops designed to hone our craftsmanship, elevate brand identity, and explore strategies for growing our businesses.

The Hermès brand has always represented the pinnacle of luxury and craftsmanship. Since its founding in 1837 by Thierry Hermès, the company started as a small harness shop in Paris, creating high-quality goods for horse-drawn carriages. Over the years, Hermès has remained a family business, now stewarded by the sixth generation, continuously focused on maintaining the highest standards of hand craftsmanship. The company has evolved with the times, transitioning from equestrian gear to some of the world’s most coveted luxury items, like the Birkin and Kelly bags, without compromising on quality.

Hermès is truly set apart in the luxury world because of its dedication to exclusivity and craftsmanship. It famously keeps its supply limited, with many customers waiting years for the chance to purchase their iconic bags. But beyond their famous products, the heart of Hermès lies in its commitment to artisanal craftsmanship, with many items still being made by hand using time-honored techniques, such as their signature saddle stitch. This blend of tradition, innovation, and attention to detail is what makes Hermès so special—and why learning directly from their team is such an extraordinary opportunity for artisans like myself.

I’m eager to dive deeper into the brand's philosophies and bring new insights into my jewelry-making practice. The mentorship will cover critical topics like brand identity, visual merchandising, and e-commerce strategies, all while staying true to the handcrafted, sustainable values that both Hermès and I hold dear.

Stay tuned as I embark on this transformative journey in October!
