Choosing the Correct Necklace Length

It’s a truth we all know – you order a necklace online for yourself or as a gift and the chain is either too short or too long. All necks are not created equal and it’s important to take time to gather the correct measurements for a comfortable fit.

Finding the Right Length for You

You have a few options! Find a necklace you currently own and like the length. Lay it out on a flat surface and measure it from end to end. You can also take a piece of string, hold it to the desire length, and measure.

Find the Right Length as Gift

Necklaces are typically made in standard lengths of 16 inches, 18 inches, 20 inches, 22 inches, and 24 inches. The easiest approach is to measure one of their current necklaces. If this is not feasible, your best chance is generally an informed guess at both their neck size and the desired style. It is also a good idea to include a detachable necklace extender with gifts.

There are many factors that go into determining the right size for a necklace. Make sure to consider all of them in order to get one that fits you perfectly.
